Nearly new JMC Norvin classic motorcycle up for auction

A new Norvin… is that even possible? A new Vincent 1,000cc vee-twin engine in a Norton Featherbed frame with modern cycle parts?

Yes, and one is coming up for auction at the Charterhouse Classic & Vintage Motorcycle auction on 26 October. The auction will be held at the Haynes International Motor Museum near Sparkford, Somerset, and online, with viewing being held the day before, the 25th.

The motorcycle is a 2022 Norvin, built by JMC Classics of Bassingbourn, near Royston, Herts and carries a sale estimate of £30,000 to £35,000.

According to the auctioneer, all component parts are new and include twin plug heads, electric start and Dell Orto carburettors. There’s 250mm magnesium four leading shoe front brake and 200mm twin leading shoe rear with a cush drive. Plus 38mm Ceriani GP forks and Falcon rear shocks.

Unlike some Norvins created by JMC Classics, this one keeps the whole Norton Featherbed frame with the front twin downtubes, just as the racers of the 1950s and 1960s would have done. Not only does this retain the integrity of the frame but also the look. It’s just right!

That front brake draws attention. It’s 250mm in diameter – around 10 inches – and created by Fontana. It’s said to have more stopping power than a disc brake and cost more than £2,600 on its own.

The motorcycle has completed just 600 miles, and comes with V5C, MoT, Vincent HRD Company inspection certificate and JMC Classics spec sheet.

JMC Classics was formed in October 2008 by John Mossey after 20 years of restoring classic motorcycles. He also developed new build JMC Egli-Vincents and JMC Norvins which are normally available to order.
